Description
Response book recording the answers given by informants during the Survey of English Dialect. It includes 9 sections that cover a range of topics relating to work, domestic and social life. Answers are recorded in the International Phonetic Alphabet. Interviews have been carried out by fieldworker Peter Wright. There are four informants for this response book - Mr William Lewis, Charles Pugh, Mr Tom Thomas and Mr Jabez Preece. Their responses can be found in the following books: William Lewis - I, II, III Charles Pugh - IV Tom Thomas - V, VI Jabez Preece - VII, VIII, IX The index for the response book can be found with book I. Location, biographical or phonetic notes will be shown either in the final notes section or within the book they appear in. Note that this locality was not listed in the original Survey of English Dialects introductory volume, but is listed in the specific counties volume.
