Correspondence between Harold Orton and Eugen Dieth regarding linguistic research, and plans for a collaborative survey leading to the production of a linguistic atlas of England. This correspondence includes the first reference to a survey to produce a Linguistic Atlas of England (in correspondence dated 21 July 1945). Also includes a biographical note on Eugen Dieth by his research assistant, Eduard Kolb. 1 file. 1945-1956.
