Timber Buyer's Scribble
Description
Robert Hunter of Castle Bolton marking a tree with a timber buyer's scribble at Low Row ( Swaledale). The scribble is an implement with a wooden handle and two blades, one sharp like a compass blade for drawing circles, and the other for drawing straight lines. In this photograph, Mr. Hunter cuts a straight line into the tree bark with the second blade. Mounted on Photo File card with LAVC/PHO/P1161. Originally held in Photo File: Hunting, Shooting, Trapping, Forestry.
