Description
Cuttings extracted from 'The Countryman', 'Country Life' and the 'Observer Magazine'on various types of carved stone and stone monuments. The subject matter includes a sanctuary stone used in a wall near Torpichen (West Lothian), stone crosses at Hutton-le-Hole (North Yorkshire) and Stringston (Somerset), the Eleanor Crosses, a Viking burial ground near the Limfjord (Denmark), an inscription at Nether Silton (North Yorkshire) and Templar boundary stone in Wensleydale. Arrangement retains the original classification order, and chronologically within this.
