Farm Buildings
Description
This file contains items on farmhouses and other buildings traditionally found on working farms. The larger part of the file includes items from the period 1965-1979; cuttings and articles extracted from 'Country Life'magazine and the 'Yorkshire Evening Post' on farmhouses (including cruck-framed houses), an illustrated article by Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby on farmhouses in the Yorkshire Dales (from 'Country Life', 19 February 1970, pp. 442-443), dovecotes and barns (in particular tithe barns). The file also includes a printed and illustrated guide to the barns and workshops at the West Yorkshire Folk Museum at Shibden Hall, Halifax (2nd edition; Halifax Museums, 1954; [28] pp.); and photocopies of W. R. Mitchell's article on barns in Swaledale from the 'Dalesman', volume 41, number 11 (February 1979), pp. 910-914, and R. W. Brunskill's 'Recording the Buildings of the Farmstead' from the 'Transactions of the Ancient Monuments Society', volume 21 (1976), [36] pp. File contents retained in original classification order, and chronologically within this.
