Description
Response book recording the answers given by informants during the Survey of English Dialect. It includes 9 sections that cover a range of topics relating to work, domestic and social life. Answers are recorded in the International Phonetic Alphabet. Interviews have been carried out by fieldworker Stanley Ellis. There are three informants for this response book - Fred Clarke, William Bateman (Bill) and William Neal (Bill). Their responses can be found in the following books: Fred Clarke - I, II, IV, V, VII, IX Bill Bateman - III, VI, VII, VIII Bill Neal - 'used to confirm evidence' The index for the response book can be found with book I. Location, biographical or phonetic notes will be shown either in the final notes section or within the book they appear in.
