Description
Miniature portrait of Giuseppe 'Joseph' Novello in the form of a glazed pendant. The portrait appears to be in tempera, with a woven hair panel on the reverse, obscured by two paper labels adhered to the glass. The fixings appear to be copper. It is possible that it is mourning jewellery, commissioned on or after his death in 1808. The object is accompanied by a later note with brief biographical information for the sitter.
