"Papers on Gypsies"

Description

This file contains photocopies of ms. papers by Lloyd Weedon on gypsies. The first paper focusses on the Gypsy Traveller communities of Ireland and Scotland, and includes discussions on Irish Gypsy Traveller communities, Shelta language, modern reactions, legislation, relationships with farmers, traditional songs and fairs. The second [?working draft] paper has the title, 'A Phenomenal People: Gypsies, Tinkers, Travellers', and gives bibliographical references, discusses Gypsy Traveller and Roma origins and culture including occupations, leisure activities, music and song, and beliefs, and makes comparisons between Gypsy Traveller and Roma communities and Jewish communities. The file also contains photocopies of information sheets issued by the West Midlands Traveller's School (November 1973, and Spring/Summer 1974). File arranged as found.
