Description
This file contains the typed text of a song written about celebrations at Rothwell on the jubilee of George III (25 October 1809), collected by Peter Brears; a photostat copy of the text for 'England - My England', a parody on Pakistani immigration, collected by Tony Green and with his ms. note on its possible provenance in Birmingham in the 1960s; ms. and typed song texts originating in London, collected by Mary Savile and including 'The Cow', 'As it Fell Upon a Day' (sad song from Wapping), 'Don't You Smell Fire?' (originally collected by William Hebden), 'Faithless Sally Brown and Ben the Carpenter', 'Jack Hall' and 'Tim Turpin' (originally collected by William Hebden); a photocopy of two versions of the ballad 'Edward' from an unidentified publication, a photocopy of an ms. table compiled by Tony Green comparing versions and adaptations of this ballad, and photocopies of the text and tune to 'Veneeseen Pyrkivä Neito' [ 'The Embarking Maid'], 'Velisurmaaja' [ 'The Brother-Slayer'] and 'Titanicin Haaksirikko' [ 'The Wreck of the Titanic'], all in Finnish and English, from an unidentified publication; a copy of Dave Arthur and Toni Arthur's paper, 'Magic in Ballads', (Trailer LER 2017), reprinted from 'Folk Unlimited', (undated), [4] pp.; and a mounted newspaper cutting from the 'Yorkshire Post'with the text to the 'Ballad of Taddy Keats' (26 October 1974).
