Stone Circle at Lea Green

Description

Remains of a stone circle at Lea Green, near Grassington ( Wharfedale). Ancient field enclosures visible in background. Mounted on Photo File card with LAVC/PHO/P0069. With ms. notes in Kissling's hand. The stone circle measures approximately 54 feet in diameter and stands on the site of an ancient settlement. An ms. note on the card (not in Kissling's hand) states that it was probably erected by Druids, which would date it to between ca. 200 BC and 400 AD. Kissling notes the western half of the circle as having been destroyed. Originally held in Photo File: Relics of the Past.
