Description

Response book recording the answers given by informants during the Survey of English Dialect. It includes 9 sections that cover a range of topics relating to work, domestic and social life. Answers are recorded in the International Phonetic Alphabet. Interviews have been carried out by fieldworker Averil Playford. There are four informants for this response book - Mr George Page, Mr Edward Bertram Orton (first noted as Mr J. Orton but then crossed out), Mrs Alice Brown and Mr J. Spare. Their responses can be found in the following books: George Page - I, III Mr Edward Bertram Orton - II, IV Alice Brown - V, VI, IX Mr J. Spare - VII, VIII The index for the response book can be found with book I. Location, biographical or phonetic notes will be shown either in the final notes section or within the book they appear in.
