Description
The papers contained within this sub-subseries describe the genesis and development of the Survey of English Dialects (SED), Harold Orton's collaboration with Eugen Dieth, their methodology, fieldwork techniques (including tape recorded interviews), the Questionnaire itself, the data collected and its dissemination in published form. The larger part of this sub-subseries was created during the period 1946-1966.
