Description
Response book recording the answers given by informants during the Survey of English Dialect. It includes 9 sections that cover a range of topics relating to work, domestic and social life. Answers are recorded in the International Phonetic Alphabet. Interviews have been carried out by fieldworker John Wright. There are four informants for this response book - William John Thorn, Richard Heard, Francis John Gist and Richard Parkyn. Note that there was a fifth informant listed as R. Gist and down for book IX, but this has been crossed out and referred to as Francis John Gist instead. Their responses can be found in the following books: William John Thorn - I, VIII Richard Heard - II, III, VI Francis John Gist - IV, IX Richard Parkyn - V, VII The index for the response book can be found with book I.
